The Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series Madrid course is known as one of the most demanding in Europe, featuring a rolling profile across its 42.195 km. Starting on the Paseo de la Castellana, runners face a steady uphill section that sets the tone for the race: this is not about pure speed, but about smart pacing and effort management.
After the opening kilometers, the course mixes long downhills with short climbs and false flats between km 7 and 19, forcing runners to constantly adjust their pace. This section is crucial to avoid early fatigue, as the terrain can be deceptively demanding.
Beyond the halfway point, the race enters a transitional phase with faster sections, but also risky if you push too hard. Between km 30 and 33, one of the toughest parts of the course appears, often coinciding with the classic marathon “wall”, where both physical and mental strength are tested.
In the final kilometers, after a brief relief with gentle downhills and flat sections, runners face the final climb to the finish line. With over 400 meters of elevation gain and passing iconic landmarks such as El Retiro Park, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Madrid becomes a unique experience where finishing is already a victory.
