The Martín Fiz Marathon starts and finishes at Paseo de Cervantes, next to the Mendizorroza stadium in Vitoria-Gasteiz. From there, the course heads toward the Palacio de Congresos, keeping the old town on the right.

Once it reaches the Zadorra river, the route follows it up and back for several kilometres before turning toward the stadium for the return leg. This riverside stretch is where the course settles into a calmer, steadier rhythm.

Both the marathon and half marathon also head into the city centre, passing the Artium Museum, Plaza de España and Plaza de la Provincia, and the streets Prado, Dato and Florida — a stretch the shorter 10K and 5K distances skip entirely.
