The Salomon Run Barcelona 5K course takes place entirely on the hill of Montjuïc and shares many of the characteristics of the longer race: stairs, dirt paths, pedestrian areas and asphalt sections that make it a true urban trail event. With roughly 5 km of distance, the course is intense from the start and mixes explosive segments with more runnable stretches.

The race begins with one of the most iconic and demanding parts of the course: the stairs of the MNAC. During the first 700 meters runners face several stair sections, some quite long, requiring careful pacing from the very beginning. After reaching the upper area, the route offers a short favorable downhill section before tackling another set of stairs leading towards Montanyans Avenue.

Between km 0.7 and km 1.8 the course loops around the Foixarda area, combining dirt paths and pedestrian sections with shorter stair segments. While these stairs are not especially long, they can be somewhat technical due to irregular step sizes. The route then continues with rolling terrain until reaching the Avinguda de l’Estadi, where a long but moderate climb appears.

From km 1.8 to around km 3.4 runners reach one of the calmest sections of the course. The route crosses the Olympic Ring (Anella Olímpica), with the Olympic Stadium ahead and the Palau Sant Jordi on the right. The profile is relatively gentle, featuring a gradual climb followed by a short but fast descent. Soon after, another stair section of nearly one hundred steps leads towards the parking area of the MNAC.

Between km 3.4 and km 4.2 the course descends towards Passeig de Santa Madrona through one of the most technical sectors. It begins with irregular stairs that require careful foot placement. After that, the route becomes more runnable, alternating dirt paths and asphalt in a mostly downhill profile.

The final stretch, from km 4.2 to the finish line, once again features stairs as the key element. First runners face an uphill stair section split into two parts before reaching an area close to the start. From there, the race finishes with the final descent down the MNAC stairs and a short sprint to the finish line.
