What is the route of the Salomon Run Barcelona 2027

Map showing the race route

The Salomon Run Barcelona 10K course takes place entirely on the hill of Montjuïc, combining asphalt, dirt paths, pedestrian areas and numerous stair sections. With an approximate distance of 9.3 km and around 238 meters of elevation gain, it is an urban trail race that fully uses the terrain of the Anella Olímpica. The course is demanding and highly varied, with constant climbs and descents that force runners to continuously adapt their pace.

The opening section starts with one of the toughest parts of the race: a direct climb up the stairs of the MNAC shortly after the start. This initial segment, which extends roughly to km 0.7, includes a large number of steps and requires careful pacing from the beginning. After reaching the upper level, the route descends along a paved path before tackling more stairs, immediately setting the challenging tone of the race.

Between km 0.7 and km 3.1 the route heads towards the Foixarda and the Anella Olímpica area, where runnable sections alternate with winding paths and additional stair segments. Although some stretches allow runners to maintain a steady rhythm, the stairs and changes of direction frequently disrupt the pace, requiring focus and careful effort management.

From km 3.1 onwards the race enters one of its longest sections, circling around the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium. Here the stairs disappear for several kilometers, but the route remains demanding due to a profile of continuous rolling climbs and descents across asphalt and dirt paths. The climb towards the stadium is particularly tough and can feel endless if runners have pushed too hard earlier in the race.

The final stretch, from around km 7.6 to the finish line, reintroduces the race’s most iconic feature: the stairs of Montjuïc. This section includes mostly technical descents mixed with more runnable segments, although runners still face a final uphill stair section before the last descent to the finish. This explosive finish demands strong legs and caution on the steps.
